September 1. I will be living in Szczecin (Stettin) in Poland and I am looking for someone to play squash or badminton with there a couple times a month or weekly - whatever we figure out.

I am not really “into” sports, but it is nice to play a bit to do something besides working and going out from time to time.

So, it does not really matter what level you are, as long as you find it funny to hit a ball :)

Contact me here or by SMS if you are interested. I’m sure we’ll figure out where to play.

Nofollow free zone

So, I have decided to make this blog a nofollow free zone. The main reason for doing so is to encourage more readers to comment on the posts. I am also going to make my norwegian blog nofollow free. Thanks to Markus for sharing the plugin.

Looking for apartment in Szczecin

July 24, 2008 · Filed Under Personal · Comment

September 1st 2008 is the first day of being without an apartment here in Gorzow. That means that I have to have found a new apartment in Szczecin by then and I really hope I will find a descent place to live in Szczecin.

Ania has already signed an agreement for an apartment to rent there, so now it is only me left. The apartment she found there is really nice and cosy - and it would be ideal to find something similar if I can just find something a bit bigger than 50 square meters.

If you know about someone renting out an apartment bigger than 50 square meters in a central area of Szczecin I am very interested in hearing about it.I am looking for an apartment of high standard in a secure area of the town. It should be pretty close to Galaxy or the castle. No trams passing by and not too close to the cathedral.

We are also looking for office space in centrum of Szczecin for Devenia as well. We need two rooms at least.

Give me a call or comment below if you have something to offer.

The SEO A-List

May 3, 2008 · Filed Under SEO · Comment

A littile while back I told Jeremy (Shoemoney) that I had an idea brewing regarding a way to find out which SEO-firms that knows the trade, and which ones that has no or little idea about what they are doing.

When you have been in the SEO-business for a while, you realize there is little or no real proof about who is who.

Of course we have had the occasional seo-contests running, but those of us that has been in the business for a while knows how skewed the results of seo-contests are. They don’t tell anything about who is able to get and keep the long term high rankings. They only says something about who is able to get the timing right for a sertain short-term date.

So, what I came up with is the following idea that I sent to Jeremy for comments. I have edited out the parts that was meant specifically for him.

The idea:
Set up an site that is called something along the lines of “SEO White List” or “SEO A-List”

How to qualify to get listed:
The candidate would have to show through practical work that they actually know what they are doing. The only way you could actually see that they do know what they are doing is by proving it.

Every candidate would have to work on different sites so it is possible to see if it is their work that produces results.

What should be taken into consideration for a listing:
Do the SEO work in a way that do not harm you?
Do they follow up correctly?
Can you see any improvement in the rankings?
Do the improvements last?

Why this could work:
Frankly - the industry needs something like this to divide the ones that claims they know the trade - and those that can actually prove it.

The comment from Jeremy was: “Sounds interesting honestly I just don’t have time for something like that right now =(”. That is fair enough.

So, I need you opinion. Could something like a seo a-list work?

Devenia: markets we work with

April 16, 2008 · Filed Under Devenia, Marketing · Comment

I have just registered the rest of the domains we need to continue to grow in the markets we focus on. We are currently working with Norge (Norway), Polska (Poland), USA, UK and EU. The sites are finished in various degrees, but we are working on them as time permits.

We will also launch our sites in danish and swedish, but the focus are on finishing the sites we currently have running first.

Zemanta suggest

I have just installed a nifty little plugin for Firefox that will be very interesting to check out. It’s called Zemanta and works together with Wordpress. What it does is that it suggests images and articles that you can use in your articles as long as you are blogging on one of the supported platforms.

Since I blog using self-hosted Wordpress it is supported.

Now - here is what it does: While I am writing this post it waits untill I have written about 300 characters, and then presents me with suggestions for articles and images I could use in the article.

So, it helps you in the sence that you don’t need to run around looking for suited content or images for your posts.

That is the theory anyway.

The image to the right was suggested by Zementa. I just dragged it into the post.

Zementa has also suggested the following articles for further reading:

Have you tried Zemanta? What is your experience with it?

Stopping the Wordpress spammers

April 8, 2008 · Filed Under Wordpress · 2 Comments

I have been looking for a way to stop the spam comments that sneak into the Wordpress blogs I run. I have tried several different ones, but they all have been “not quite what I was looking for”.

It was a relief to read Jeremy’s post where he point’s out a nifty little plugin that stops the perstering of my posts.

The plugin does one simple thing: It closes the posts for comments after 14 days (by default). That should do it I think.

Thanks Jeremy for a great tip :) and thanks to Matt for creating it.
